CAF Champions League Report: Vihiga Queens v Mamelodi Sundowns

Sundowns took the lead after three minutes through a deft chip from Melinda Kgadiete after the defence went to sleep at the back.

The opposing end looked to take the Sundowns ladies apart soon after going behind, but their adventures was thwarted whilst Kgadiete missed out on a brace a little thereafter.

Vihiga continued to trouble the Tshwane side with a smart look-in on goal following the half-hour mark, but nothing came from the threat.

Sundowns looked to use their advantage to good effect following the remaining minutes of the first half and threatened from a well-worked set-piece which didn't trouble their counterparts.

In the second half, the Brazilians still penetrated their adversaries with amongst others short passes and timeous forward balls into space which like before Queens managed to smother.

Sundowns goalkeeper Andile Dlamini was put to work continuously well in the second stanza as she pulled off a brilliant save to keep Queens from drawing level, with Lelona Daweti introduced.

An evenly balanced contest following the remaining exchanges saw chances both ends but in the end Sundowns landed on the victorious path.
