Banyana Banyana duo Thembi Kgatlana and Linda Motlhalo to start new chapters after Houston Dash exit

The club announced that is has decided to waive both players and thanked them for their contribution while wishing them the best for the future.

African Women’s Player of the Year Kgatlana was one of the fan favourites at the club. She scored two goals and had three assists for the club, having joined them last year.

Motlhalo joined the club at the same time as Kgatlana after spending two seasons with Sasol League outfit JVW FC, and she recorded one goal and an assist in 21 appearances.

“We are grateful for everything Linda and Thembi have given the club. We wish them best as they begin the next chapter of their career. We would have loved to have them join us in 2019, but we understand the complexities of the global game and the interest in players like Linda or Thembi,” Dash coach James Clarkson said.

“This now gives us roster flexibility, including an open international spot as we continue to build the 2019 Houston Dash.”

Houston now have three internationals on their roster – Rachel Daly from England, as well as Australia’s Kyah Simon and Claire Polkinghorne.
