William Shongwe: What Broos can expect from Eswatini

Eswatini legend William Shongwe has shared what he thinks Hugo Broos and his Bafana Bafana team should expect when facing Isihlangu Semnikati.

On Thursday, the Belgian, Broos announced his 23-man squad for the upcoming friendlies against Eswatini and Ivory Coast next week.

Asked if he thought the Eswatini national team could provide South Africa with the much-needed test, Shongwe said it depends on what Broos is looking to gain from his opponents.

"You know sometimes, coaches choose games for certain reasons," Shongwe tells KickOff.

"People are focusing on the Africa Cup of Nations Finals because they are so close.

"If you want to prepare certain patterns for a competition, you need to play against teams where there is going to be less pressure.

"You are doing that so that your players can manoeuvre and get used to certain movements.

"For me, I can only think it's from that point of view.

"The Eswatini team is very physical. They might not be that technical, but they are very fit.

"Most of the players that the coaches usually pick are from the armed forces, which means they are fully professional, and they train well.

"If you look for endurance throughout the game, they will keep you on your toes, they will butter you.

"If you are looking for a physical opponent, you will get all that from Eswatini.

"You will be bumped up; you will be roughed up for the whole 90 minutes.

"They don't create many opportunities, but they run you down over the 90 minutes."
