'They want to go to the World Cup' - Broos impressed by Bafana squad

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos is confident of his squad as Bafana Bafana prepare to take on Rwanda in a 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier on Tuesday afternoon.

Under Broos, South Africa are undefeated in their last 12 matches  and have collected seven wins from those encounters.

The 96' Afcon champions are top of Group C following Saturday's win against Benin and now have the opportunity to cement the spot against Rwanda after Nigeria and Zimbabwe played to a 1-1 draw on matchday two.

Ahead of the clash, Broos insists his side is more than capable of getting positive results.

"I think now I think the group [of players] we have it's not such a problem. The guys have shown me what they want, they want to go to the World Cup and they want to go very far," Broos told SAFA media.

"Even though we will be playing on a bad pitch, I think they are grown in that kind of situation and the mindset of the team stays very good even when we face such things, I don't really worry about my team. I know they will be ready for the game.

"I'm very confident, the confidence has grown over the last years, every day,  every camp I believe more and more in the group. Even when it changes, it changed often in the past but if you look at now in the last camps, it's always the same players and that means I as a coach found my team and I am confident in my team.

"In the last few games we have played against some good opponents, so there is a lot of quality and a lot of potential in this group.

"Sometimes we don't believe in our own qualities. I said it already to the group, I said: 'Listen, this is a quality group, just believe in your qualities,' and more and more I see that they are doing it."

The match against Rwanda will be played at the Huye Stadium in Rwanda on Tuesday. Kick-off is at 15:00.
