'They are one of the candidates to win Afcon'

Head coach Hugo Broos has urged Bafana Bafana to draw confidence from their 2-1 win against Morocco when they take on Afcon host nation Côte d'Ivoire.

South Africa will be aiming to return to winning ways when they go head to head against the 2006 and 2012 Afcon finalists after a run of poor that has seen Broos' side, having scored just once in their last three matches.

Speaking to SAFA Media ahead of the friendly against Ivory Coast, Broos

"Yes, I think certainly [it will be difficult] because they are the hosts and one for the candidate to win Afcon.

"They are a very good team with a lot of players that play in Europe so I compare them a little bit with the team of Morocco."

"So that means that we will have to be at our best level and we've shown that against those kind of teams, a few months ago in Johannesburg against Morocco, that we can do it.

"I'm still confident [in Bafana] and it shouldn't be that because on Friday we had such a bad game that we start t doubt everything. The quality is there, maybe it was only a matter of focus, mentality or opponents that made us play a game like Friday.

"I don't think it will happen tomorrow. There will be focus, they will be ready to show something."

Meanwhile, The Elephants also don't go to Tuesday's encounter in their best form, having won just one of their last three matches.
