SAFA CEO Russel Paul has given an indication of the way forward following Stuart Baxter's resignation as Bafana Bafana head coach.
Baxter at a press conference in Johannesburg on Friday announced that he will be vacating his position with immediate effect, just a few weeks after their return from the 2019 AFCON.

Paul quickly moved to thank the Scotsman for his contribution over his two-year spell, not only to the senior men's national team but also the junior boys and girls as well as senior women's teams.
"We take note of what the coach has said, and we want to wish him all the best in his future endeavours," commented Paul upon Baxter's announcement.
"I think what is very important to note is the fact that Stuart played a very big role in advancing the cause of Vision 2022, with all the qualifications of our various national teams, whether the junior girls or boys, the women's team that qualified for the World Cup or Bafana that went to AFCON.
"So, we're very thankful for his input that he has provided over the years, allowing us through his own expertise to build up a good squad that we have now – one that in his and our minds, we believe is ready to move onto the next phase of qualifiers.
"Whoever will step into his seat has a very solid platform to work with, so from SAFA and on behalf of the president, we want to thank him very much for his contribution and commitment, and we wish him very well as he moves on to brighter pastures."

The acting CEO further added that plans are afoot for the upcoming FIFA international breaks in September and October, before Bafana get their AFCON 2021 qualifiers underway in November, while a decision on a new coach will be directed by the technical committee.
"As far as where we head to, we've got two friendlies in September; there are friendlies scheduled for October and then qualifiers in November," Paul added.
"Obviously now we're going into a technical committee meeting tomorrow, and we'll take the direction from them and we'll issue a statement to keep everyone informed about the process. But the intention would be to try and resolve something before the end of August."
