Langerman picked up a hamstring problem in the first training session on Tuesday while Furman recently discovered a rib injury carried over from his last club match for SuperSport United that he was not aware of until suffering pain earlier this morning.
“Scans have shown a hairline fracture to Dean Furman’s rib and he could be out for about two weeks, depending on how it’s managed,” national team doctor Thulani Ngwenya tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“Tebogo Langerman has a grade one hamstring tear, which is not too serious, but we don’t want to take any risks as it’s our responsibility to put the best interest of the players first.”
Coach Shakes Mashaba adds: “We have contacted the relevant clubs to call upon two replacements but we await their responses regarding the players’ availability.
“Unfortunately we cannot reveal the names as yet until we know for sure they they will be coming.”
Dr Ngwenya also confirmed that Ronwen Williams (collarbone) and Andile Jali (thigh) have been treated, with both players taking full part in this afternoon's training session at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Daine Klate watched training from the sidelines as he nurses a bone contusion (bruise) to his left fibula but is expected to recover in time for the match on Saturday.
