Morris: Every Bafana call-up should be honoured

Bafana Bafana legend Nasief Morris has outlined the importance of honouring a national team call-up.

Morris spent spells for teams in Spain and Greece, believes every national team call-up should be appreciated and honoured.

"In International breaks like it is now, if players are available, they should be there," Morris tells KickOff.

"By the time you go to the AFCON, you have your base, you have your core, and the players know each other, they know exactly what the coach wants from them, and they can implement it in the tournament.

"Even if those players are not involved in all the games, you need that base because you are working towards something.

"I don't think it's right to call certain players for certain games and then you don't have that momentum.

"You need to build that momentum, build the team for the future, you should always have everybody, you should have a core of like 40, 50 players to find the perfect balance.

"In our time we had the majority of the players playing in Europe, 90% of our Bafana team was playing abroad.

"It was easier for the coach as there was not a lot of tactical explanation, we knew exactly what we needed to do.

"But now you have the majority of the guys playing in South Africa and few guys from Europe, and you need to get that understanding between the players."
