Legendary Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Innocent "Ayobayo" Mayoyo has backed Hugo Broos' unpopular decision to select AmaZulu FC shot-stopper Veli Mothwa over Brandon Petersen and Sipho Chaine to his Bafana Bafana squad.
Questioned over choosing Mothwa over Kaizer Chiefs' Brandon Petersen Broos said the Amakhosi goalkeeper was not considered because of his costly mistakes.

"We must not forget that we are talking about a coach who is in the building process, Mothwa is not new to this team, I think he was part of the Cosafa squad if I'm not mistaken," Mayoyo tells KickOff.
"Sometimes we should allow the process to take its course, the coach prefers continuity because he is building a team for next year's AFCON since he qualified.
"Petersen impressed in the last two matches, before that, Chiefs lost matches because of goalkeeper errors. And he only got the man of the match yesterday.
"Yes, Chaine is doing very well for Orlando Pirates but who should be sacrificed?
"What gives Mothwa an advantage is that already he is part of the national team.
"Remember Mothwa and Ricardo Goss they are only there as backup, Ronwen Williams is the number one.
"Mothwa cannot be judged with AmaZulu performances because the players playing in front of him are not of the same quality.
"What gives Mothwa an advantage over Chaine and Petersen is the fact that he's been a number one at his club for a long time now.
"What Mothwa does better than Petersen and Chaine is the way he commands his defence.
"He might be let down by the quality of players he is playing with at AmaZulu."
