Chiefs legend: It's embarrassing

Kaizer Chiefs legend Rudolf Gardner Seale says it is embarrassing that such a football institution and Premier Soccer League giant does not have even a single player in Hugo Broos' squad.

Speaking from the comfort of his home in Belgium, the coach named his final 23-maqn Bafana Bafana squad that will be representing South Africa in January's Africa Cup Of Nations tournament set to take place in Ivory Coast.

Seale blames the constant changing of coaches in Naturena for the lack of Chiefs players in the national team.

"It's embarrassing," Seale tells KickOff.

"When we started Bafana Bafana, how many Kaizer Chiefs players were there? We had eight players but right now we have nothing.

"So for a big team like Kaizer Chiefs that is well known locally and abroad not to have a player in our national team, it's embarrassing. But I believe it's not because of how they play, Yusuf Maart is playing well but not suited for Bafana Bafana," he added.

"Maybe we should blame the lack of consistency in the Chiefs boys. For a player to impress his national team selectors, he must have a consistent coach at club level.

"Constant changing of coaches at club level affects the rhythm of a player. Maart is a good box-to-box player who provides threats going forward, but there is a problem of inconsistency with him."
