Hugo Broos backing Bafana striker Lepasa

Head coach Hugo Broos is backing striker Zakhale Lepasa to prove crucial for Bafana Bafana despite an apparent slump in form for club side Orlando Pirates in recent games.

Lepasa has failed to score for Orlando Pirates in the last three games including the CAF Champions League match against Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana.

According to statistics, the Bucs striker had not even registered a single shot at a goal against Galaxy at Orlando stadium in Soweto last week, Friday.

Despite his poor form in the black and white colours in recent times, Broos has included Zakhele Lepasa in the Bafana Bafana squad for the international friendly match against Eswatini and Ivory Coast.

"Like every other player, he could not go on like was doing because, by the end of the season, he should have 40 goals.

"One moment you have less momentum, and this may be what happens now with Lepasa, maybe also because the performance of the team is not good anymore.

"So, I am not worried about him, he remains a good striker and has three strikers, three different profiles with Foster and with Mothiba so I am very happy with them," said Broos.

Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos has named Lepasa's teammate Paseka Mako in his squad to face eSwatini and Ivory Coast in the international friendly matches this month. Mako has been in fine form for the Mighty Buccaneers this season.
