Foster reveals special bond with Pirates star

Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster has opened up on a 'super-special' bond with teammate and Orlando Pirates right-back Thabiso Monyane.

The pair, who were both part of the Orlando Pirates development academy in their teenage years, have reunited at the senior national team for two of South Africa's friendlies against Namibia and DR Congo.

"That one is super-special, Monyane," Foster said.

"I think we've played together since the age of 12. Thabiso is super fast. He had the choice to do athletics because he was one of South Africa's fastest sprinters in our age group, but Augusto Palacios brought him to play football.

"He actually lived at my house with me for a year. We slept in the same bed, and went to the same school.

"So being able to represent the country together is something super-special for the both of us and we are just happy that we are here and get to enjoy the moment together.

The pair featured for Bafana during Saturday's match against Namibia and will be aiming to get more action when South Africa takes on DR Congo on Tuesday.

The match will be played at Orlando Stadium. Kick-off is at 17:00.
