CHAN qualifier match report Lesotho v South Africa

Bafana Bafana's journey in the CAF 2020 African Nations Championship qualifiers came to end after they went down 3-0 to Lesotho in the second leg of their second-round encounter on Sunday afternoon at Dobsonville Stadium.

David Notoane made wholesale changes from the 3-2 defeat in the first-leg with Nyiko Mobbie, experienced midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Kaizer Chiefs' Itumeleng Shopane and Orlando Pirates' Zakhele Lepasa included in the line-up.

Kgodiso Monama had the first real opportunity for Notoane's men in the 25th minute after carving out an angle inside the box but his low shot was saved by shot-stopper Monaheng Ramalefane.

Bafana did not have the momentum in the closing stages of the first stanza, struggling to combine and the sides eventually went to the break goalless but Likuena were leading 3-2 on aggregate.

The hosts showed a lapse in concentration from the break and they were punished four minutes in by Jane Ntso, who broke the deadlock for Lesotho and extended their lead to 4-2 on aggregate.

Bafana lacked the cutting edge and they were made to pay for it after the hour-mark as Ntso grabbed his brace and doubled the lead for Likuena. Hlompho Kaleke ended all the hopes for Bafana as he made it 3-0 for Marai's men in the closing stages and 6-2 on aggregate.
