Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has reassured South Africa that his side is well-prepared ahead of the opening match against Mali on Tuesday night, highlighting wins against Morocco and DR Congo.
South Africa is set to take on Mali in their opening AFCON clash. Bafana have only ever won the continental title once, back in 1996. They were finalists in 1998 and finished third in 2000.

Broos has outlined Bafana's analysis of the opponents and believes that the national team's recent results are enough reason to believe the 1996 African champions will have a good tournament.
"We are aware that we have a tough opponent in Mali on the other side we believe in our chances and I hope we can achieve our best level so that we can win the game because it's so important that in a tournament like this, we start with a victory," Broos told media in the pre-match press conference on Monday.
"As I said, Mali is a very good team we have a lot of information about them. You know that with modern techniques you can have whatever you want.
"We are well prepared now for their weaknesses and we know the strong points of that team (Mali). I said before, we are ready and we will see how the game will go. I think when you are honest you see that South Africa has made progress in the last two years.

"We started with a brand new team, we had some difficulties in the beginning, certainly, because of me, because I didn't know really well South Africa players but then one moment everything was there and you saw little by little we got good results.
"We beat Morocco, we beat DRC, we played a draw in Ivory Coast, that means we made progress. Therefore, it was important to be here today because this is also what this team needs, a tournament in the highest level.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 22:00.
