Bafana discover World Cup qualifying group

Bafana Bafana have been given a tricky group for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan, Vice-President Bennett Bailey and CEO Lydia Monyepao were in attendance in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire.

After failing to qualify for the last three World Cups, South Africa will be begin their journey towards the showpiece in four years time.

Hugo Broos' charges will not have an easy ride as they were drawn in Group C alongside Nigeria, Benin, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Lesotho. 

The qualifying has changed from three rounds of qualifying to a group stage format, with the winner of each group qualifying for the World Cup.

The next World Cup will be held across United States, Canada and Mexico.
