Mosimane handed in his resignation at Mamelodi Sundowns to take up the head coach role at the eight-time CAF Champions League winners last week.
Moloi is not surprised that Mosimane became one of the first South African coaches to manage abroad after doing something similar during his playing days.
"Ya he's always been brave," Moloi tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"I mean he is one of the few first guys to go and play overseas and open doors for South African players when he went to play in Greece. And we know that during that era of ours it wasn't easy to go overseas.
"I mean Fani [Madida] went to Turkey, Pitso went to Greece... they opened the doors, so it tells you he's always been a fighter and a survivor.
"So it is nothing new to him because at that time when he went to Greece, which other South African was playing in Greece? Or which other South African followed him to go to Greece? For him it has never been about 'I'll go there, I'll fail'... he always wanted to do things his own way. So for me it doesn't surprise me.
"It's a good thing you know. Neighbouring countries are now recognising South African coaches that are doing well in the country. So the chances now are there for all of us to start doing well.
"It's encouraging to see that now if we do well in our country, other countries now can give you recognition. Now if Pitso finds something like this, it's good for the country and for the coaches."
