Pitso Mosimane follows 14 Al Ahly managers in 16 years

Pitso Mosimane has enjoyed a perfect start to life with Al Ahly as the 15th head coach in the last 16 years but can he leave a legacy like the rest?

Mosimane shocked the African football fraternity when he resigned at Mamelodi Sundowns on 30 September to assume the challenge of the biggest club on the continent.

Despite the lack of job security at the Club of the Century, the incredible demands of success ingrained in the clubs' history have ensured the trophies continue to flow as managers enter and exit the proverbial revolving door.

Portuguese tactician Manuel Jose has been the most successful of any manager in their illustrious history, with his three separate stints yielding 21 trophies, including six league winners' medals and four African Champions League titles.

Jose is not the only coach to serve more than one stint over the past two decades, with current Egypt national team coach Hossam El Badry winning six major honours over his three spells as permanent head coach.

While there have also been six caretakers between the 15 managerial changes since 2004 before the Manuel Jose era, the compiled statistics detail only the permanent coaches.

Mosimane has succeeded Swiss tactician Rene Weiler with aplomb thus far as he looks to add the CAF Champions League and Egyptian Cup to the Premier League and Super Cup triumphs for the 2019/20 season.
