MacBeth Sibaya: Pitso Mosimane allows South Africans to dream big

Before the consistent success of Mosimane is the PSL, nobody expected a South African coach would ever be in charge of a giant club such as Al Ahly in Egypt.

Today the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach – after winning five Premiership titles and the CAF Champions League – is walking that path and excelling so far in his Red Devils tenure.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder, who is inspired to coach too, believes Mosimane's progress is bigger than we thought and South African football will never be the same.

"Yeah it's good because we grew up playing football emulating them, so they really help us you know to understand football," Sibaya told the media during the launch of a new sports development project under the KZN Academy.

"Remember back in the days, we used watch on TV and we didn't see well-educated local coaches in the game, we only knew about the overseas ones.

"The success of local coaches is a huge milestone. It helps our young players to dream beyond playing football. They now can say, 'I want to become a coach like Pitso.'"

Sibaya, who has history with Mosimane having worked together in the national team, says 'Jingles' has always been a dreamer, a good dictator of the game who always had purpose.

"Pitso has been the same since he was playing football, that dictatorship, not because he is the boss but because he understands football and what football needs," he added.

"Where he wants to go, he is a dreamer and wants to be a winner. Most people don't understand him you know, because dreams are beyond anyone.

"Most people just dream, but Pitso dreams with the purpose of achieving big things."
