Ayanda Nkili, Bradley Theron, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, Thabo Rakhale and Thabo Mnyamane came into the TTM starting lineup, while Maritzburg made one change with Thabiso Kutumela coming in for Bongokuhle Hlongwane.
With nine minute gone Kutumela delivered into a dangerous area but it was eventually cleared for a corner. Kutumela then struck an effort from the resulting corner but failed to keep it on target.
In the 22nd minute, Tebogo Tlolane played in Judas Moseamedi down the right and the striker's effort from a tight angle across the goal was well held by Washington Arubi in the Tshakhuma goal.
Soon after, Ndlondo's corner was met with a header by Lerato Lamola but Maritzburg keeper Marcel Engelhardt had his near post covered.
Shortly before the half-hour mark Clayton Daniels was denied by a finger tip save. Kutumela picked the defender out with a set piece and his turn and shot was tipped away by the keeper for a corner.
Close to half-time, Fares Hachi cut it back to find Kutumela in the centre of the box but the striker's first time effort was struck straight at the keeper.
Engelhardt then picked out Moseamedi with a long range pass and the striker headed it into his path before striking an effort just wide of the far post.
Vhadau Vha Damani took the lead in the 67th minute courtesy of a magnificent individual effort from Ndlondlo. He cut from the right-hand side of the box, weaving his way past a couple of defenders before cutting inside past the last - Nazeer Allie - before firing on his left back across goal into the bottom right corner.
There were no further clear cut chances created as TTM moved level on points with their opponents.
