Cavin Johnson coy on Al Ahly links as Pitso Mosimane assistant

Pitso Mosimane has set his sights on Cavin Johnson as his Al Ahly assistant coach after being rebuffed in his attempts to lure Rhulani Mokwena from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mosimane requested Ahly secure fitness coach Kabelo Rangoaga, performance analyst Musi Matlaba and Mokwena upon agreeing personal terms on his lucrative two-year deal.

The latter refused to leave Sundowns for the second time before being appointed as joint head coach of The Brazilians alongside Manqoba Mngqithi on Sunday.

However, Soccer Laduma reports that Mosimane has now secured the services of Johnson, who has been without a job since leaving Black Leopards in February.

When contacted for comment on his impending move, Johnson refused to be drawn into the speculation and suggested only time will tell whether or not he'll be joining the five-time South African league winner in Cairo this week.

The 61-year-old CAF Licence holder is held in high regard in South African football for his incredible success at development level, having notably discovered Bafana Bafana legend Steven Pienaar.
