'Ngobeni has to work hard to play against Sundowns'

AmaZulu FC president Sandile Zungu has given insight on the acquisition of Sifiso Ngobeni from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 26-year-old defender has made a move from the DStv Premiership champions to AmaZulu on a loan deal that will see him stay until the end of the season.

On Monday AmaZulu confirmed the arrival of the Mamelodi-born youngster on a short-term deal.

Ngobeni who previously played for Bloemfontein Celtic, made only two appearances for Sundowns this season.

Zungu says Ngobeni will have to work to own the left-back position, and will first have to dethrone Namibian international Riaan Hanamub.

AmaZulu has also released Sibusiso Mabiliso.

In most cases, a player loaned from Sundowns is not allowed to play against the Premiership champions. Zungu explains that he is unaware of the clause.

"Ya, I'm not sure about that specific clause in the case of Sifiso Ngobeni," Zungu tells KickOff.

"Will have to double-check if it will apply, but remember as well, Ngobeni will have to work hard if he wants to play against Sundowns.

"He will have to first dislodge Hanamub to be our first choice left-back.

"So Ngobeni, he may play against Sundowns, that's what I'm saying."
