AmaZulu star: We belong in the top four

Amid controversial refereeing decisions that have gone against them, AmaZulu midfielder Pule Ekstein says AmaZulu should be in the top four of the DStv Premiership based on their performance.

Usuthu were also seemingly denied an equalizing goal against Mamelodi Sundowns during a 1-0 defeat to the DStv Premiership defending champions. Retired referee Ace Ncobo said the goal should have stood when reviewing the sequence on SuperSportTV.

This was one of several decisions that have gone against AmaZulu this season, much to coach Pablo Franco's frustration and promotion of Ekstein to believe that the team should be in the top four based on their performance.

"As players, we are ready to go and win the [next] match," Ekstein said at the pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

"As a team, we need to win the match because right now we are 14th and it's not the right position for the team. The way we are playing, we deserve to be somewhere in the top four or top five, so I hope we are going to win the next game."

AmaZulu sit in 14th position on the Premiership standings, and their next chance to climb further up the log comes in the form of Sekhukhune United when the two teams meet at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday.

"It won't be an easy game, I think they also won their last two games so it's going to be a tough game," added Ekstein.

"To play against such a team is difficult because when you play against Sundowns for example, or [Orlando] Pirates, you are already motivated before the game but these ones, because you think you will win it but not knowing what will happen.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
