Stuart Baxter's build-up to the continental showpiece has been riddled with challenges after a friendly fixture on home soil was left until the 11th hour and ultimately fell through due to unavailability of opponents – despite the COSAFA Cup taking place only a few hundreds of kilometers away.
SAFA eventually managed to secure a fixture with West African giants Ghana in Dubai, which resulted in a goalless stalemate over the weekend.
The Sable Antelopes were meant to be Bafana's ultmate curtain raiser for the event taking place in Cairo, but just hours prior to kick-off, the association called the match off, citing a "lack of training".

Baxter's troops now head into a mammoth opening fixture against Ivory Coast, having played just one competitive game since club footballed ceased in May – some as far back as the second weekend therein.
Angola has cancelled today's practice match with Bafana Bafana citing lack of training as the reason.
