Report: Former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Toni Silva to join Tobol FC

Silva (27) spent the last year with Kazakhstani Premier Liga side FC Taraz where he recorded four goals and four assists in 17 appearances for the club.

However, despite being an important player within the squad, his contract was not renewed following the appointment of new Head Coach Vardan Minasyan, who has indicated his preference to work with local players this season.

Instead, the Guinea-Bissau international has become a free agent and now appears set to join Taraz's domestic rivals and last season's runners-up, Tobol, according to reports from Kazakh publication Vesti.

Should the deal to Tobol go through, it would be the latest step in Silva's journeyman career, with the former Portugal youth player having already represented 12 different clubs thus far.

The Bissau-born forward, who came through the youth ranks at Liverpool and Chelsea, previously turned out for Masandawana in the 2018/19 season, during which he made just 11 appearances before leaving on acrimonious terms.
