Mbappe on target as Real Madrid extend winless run

Real Madrid dropped points for a third successive game in LaLiga after a 1-1 draw away to Osasuna on Saturday evening.

Stalwart Luka Modric returned to the eleven alongside Brahim Diaz and Fran Garcia after the win at Manchester City, with Ferland Mendy, Dani Ceballos and Rodrygo removed.

Kylian Mbappe's rich vein of form in front of goal continued as he stormed in the centre of the box to get onto Federico Valverde's cross and sealed his 17th league goal of the season.

Mbappe looked on course to add to Madrid's cushion and his brace in the process, but the opposite number Sergio Herrera courted him perfectly on this occasion.

Osasuna didn't show a lot of force in attack, but got moments at the other end through Aimar Oroz, David Garcia, Ante Budimir and Bryan Zaragoza.

Los Blancos were down to ten players five minutes before the break when Jude Bellingham earned a straight red for protesting with the referee.

The home team showed a renewed sense of energy after the interval and had Jon Moncayola come close to levelling from Zaragoza's cross, but Thibaut Courtois made a save.

Osasuna took advantage of their superior personnel and were level after Budimir beat Courtois from the spot following a foul by Eduardo Camavinga.

Los Blancos made a change in the attack towards the closing stages and introduced Rodrygo in place of Moroccan international Diaz.

After a quiet period, the table-toppers looked to snatch the points late on with a stern effort from a tight angle by Mbappe but he couldn't beat Herrera.

There were no winner though as Madrid dropped points for the third straight time in the league, with the point valuable for the host.
