Matthew Booth happy with Katlego Mphela's return to Mamelodi Sundowns

After ending his self-imposed exile on Wednesday, 'Killer' is hoping to play a part for The Brazilians when they travel to Polokwane on Sunday to face Free State Stars in their next League match. And with Sundowns now trailing log leaders Orlando Pirates by six points, Booth has backed his former Bafana Bafana team-mate to give the whole club a boost.

_quote "Katlego's a valued asset to our team so we were pleased to see him back," he says.  "Everyone was disappointed with the way things turned out because it all came at such a vital moment in our campaign, although we shouldn't have played the way we did without him. I'm glad that it has all been sorted out now because it gives the squad a vital boost, although it may take him a bit of time to be fully match ready." Booth was left frustrated after caretaker coach Ian Gorowa left him on the bench in last Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Pirates. Gorowa admitted afterwards that concerns over the pace of Tlou Segolela had led to his decision but Booth is hoping to have forced his way back into the starting line-up.    "I've been giving it a good go at training this week and hopefully I can change the coach's mind," he reveals. "Last week it was the same old story with a lot of people talking about pace but there's always a balance between leadership and commanding the area than just being fast over the ground. I would have loved to have played but obviously I have to respect the coach's decision."
