Masina tells snl24.com/kickoff that Mashaba has the right credentials to lead Swazi football to greater heights and hopes his stay in Swaziland will be extended for a long time.
Mashaba has a two-month contract with the Sihlangu.
“This is good news for Swazi football. I have great respect of Mashaba as he has achieved a lot in South Africa. His experience in international football could help Swaziland reach greater heights and so I hope he stays longer than the two months mentioned.”
Masina also appealed to the Swazi nation to give Mashaba their full support.
“Raoul Savoy was also a good coach, but the results didn’t go our way during his tenure, but the players, the football association and the whole nation need to give Mashaba their full support if he is to succeed in his job.”
Mashaba, who was expected in Swaziland on Wednesday, maintains that he is also still with Pirates in the capacity as team manager.
Swaziland face Togo in their first Afcon qualifier at the Somhlolo Stadium next month, but the Mbabane-born midfielder says he is unfazed by the prospect of facing their striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who plays for English Premiership side Arsenal.
“There is also Dennis Masina in Swaziland, who plays for Supersport United in South Africa; they must also worry about me. We are not afraid of anybody, but I have to admit that it is going to be a tough game.”
