New striker? More changes at Richards Bay!

The ink has hardly dried from the paper on which his termination letter was drafted at Royal AM, and already Mxolisi Macuphu has started training with another Betway Premiership club.

Macuphu received his clearance from troubled Thwihli Thwahla and is therefore currently a free agent.

He was reportedly offered to Richards Bay FC by his representatives, with the coastal side struggling to climb out of the relegation zone.

The Natal Rich Boyz have had a disastrous start to the season, which seems to be following the same pattern as last term, where they survived via the play-offs.

Currently, they occupy 14th place on the log with a mere two victories from 14 fixtures.

They are the joint-second lowest-scoring team in the league, with as little as five goals netted.

If signed, Macuphu will be expected to deliver the goals up front for a side left with just under six months to save their elite division status.

He has 35 goals in 228 matches under his belt and brings a wealth of experience having played for TS Galaxy, Golden Arrows and Polokwane City, among others.

Richards Bay have also brought in former Magesi FC assistant coach Papi Zothwane, who, on Monday, reported to the club's training base to commence what is understood to be a coaching role.

They take on Orlando Pirates in the Last 32 of the Nedbank Cup at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.
