The Malawian international has joined Tony Coyle and Japhet Zwane in leaving FK Rostov who finished at the bottom of the 16-member Russian League with a paltry 18 points.
“My one-year loan spell has ended at Rostov and this has also coincided with the relegation of the team. I’m waiting for Lokomotiv Moscow, who own my contract, to say whether they need me back,” Kanyenda told Kick Off in Lilongwe.
“I know there are some PSL club that would be interested in my services, but I’m not thinking of a return, my mind is still in Europe where I think I have some unfinished business.”
Kanyenda joined Rostov in 2003 and made his mark to attract a move to Lokomotiv who paid an undisclosed transfer fee and also surrendered two players to Rostov.
“I had quite a tough time at Rostov but I'm hoping for the best. My agent is working on some offers from Greece and Australian teams but my next destination will depend on what Lokomotiv will say,” he says.
It is unlikely that Kanyenda will return to Lokomotiv who are in a crisis after club president Yuri Semin and coach Anatoli Byshovets resigned following the team’s worst finish of position seven at the end of the League on November 11.
FC Zenit St Petersburg are the newly-crowned Russian League champions after amassing 61 points.
