Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana striker Katlego Mashego has given his analysis of the Premier Soccer League's most dangerous striker Peter Shalulile's performance at the AFCON.

In the four games that he played for Namibia in Ivory Coast, the Sundowns striker had no goal nor shot on target under his name.

Mashego says Shalulile's failure to shine at the tournament just proves how big the level is between AFCON and the PSL.

"His performance was a bit mixed, remember he is playing for a country that didn't have a league," Mashego tells KickOff.

"Most of his teammates didn't have clubs, but be that as it may, I think he got chances to score at the AFCON, he could have easily scored four or five goals if he was the Peter Shalulile we all know.

"But also the level of defending, the level of goalkeepers, it's a level up because you are playing against players who are from Europe, so the goalkeeping and the defending, it's proper.

"The international level is different from the PSL, it's the level up, the AFCON proved it's just at a different level compared to the PSL.

"Chances he would easily score in the PSL, he couldn't score at that level.

"The level is just a bit higher up, so we should just accept that. A bit higher than what we are used to.

"It happened to some of us as well, you would bang them in for your club here but once you get to the international level it's a different story altogether.

"So we hoping Bafana Bafana with our locally based players are ready for that level."

Namibia was knocked out of the tournament following their 3-0 loss to Angola.
