Mailula feeling the love in Morocco

South African star Cassius Mailula look to be feeling the love after joining Wydad Athletic Club, stating his intentions as he well and truly embarks on this new journey.

The 23-year-old joined the Moroccan outfit on a loan deal from Major League Soccer side Toronto FC that will see him spend the 2024/25 campaign on the African continent.

The player has been welcomed warmly since making the move last month before playing his first match for his new side, coming off the bench in a 1-0 defeat to Maghreb of Fez on the first day of the new Botola Pro 1 season. 

However, his second appearance ended in a much more satisfying way, as he started Saturday's encounter against MA Tetouan which ended in a 1-0 victory this time around for Rulani Mokwena and co. 

After the game, Mailula took to social media to write: "Here to make Wydad great again."

"Thank you for the warm welcome," he added. 

The warm welcome was reflected in the comments section of his social media post, where fans sent him their best wishes. 

"Welcome Mailula; keep moving. Dima wydad, wrote @abdo_tiko. 

"We love you Mailula," wrote @im_arj37. 

"We love you," wrote @mehdi_ennaciri1 who included the red and white circles of his club in his comment.  

"Bravo lion," wrote @dani_youssef1997. 

Prior to the game against MA Tetouan, the former Mamelodi Sundowns star was a part of the group of players and technical staff who received an extremely warm welcome from the club's faithful supporters at the stadium. 

The red flares as well as flags with the club's symbol on it were put on display as players waved to the fans amid resounding applauses.

Supporters of the Moroccan giants will be hope that the good fortune continues when their side goes up against Union Touarga Sportif in a league clash on Friday.
