Edson Castillo has been left out of the Venezuelan squad as the effects of what has happened with him at Kaizer Chiefs this year remain ravaging to his international career.
The hefty price that Castillo must now pay for the sequence of events at Chiefs is to miss out on national team selection.

The 30-year-old was the top performer in his first three months at Chiefs while Molefi Ntseki was in charge.
During that time, he scored four goals and had started all but one of the 13 matches that he played before the appointment of Cavin Johnson.
Instead of gathering further pace after Johnson took charge of the dressing room, Castillo scored once and then immediately found himself with decreasing minutes.
From playing games from start to finish like he had done in 10 out of his 13 matches under Ntseki, it didn't happen as frequent anymore as he was dropped to the bench, playing eight as a substitute.
Back home, they took notice, and he eventually lost his place for the 2024 Copa America played in USA on June 20 – July 14 having played all games at the previous tournament.
The latest La Vinotinto squad, to play Bolivia and Uruguay during the forthcoming FIFA break, also doesn't feature Castillo.
This could be down to the fact that Chiefs haven't played any official football since May.
