Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana has opened up on interest from South African heavyweights Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns before eventually signing with Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis.
KickOff broke the story that Sekhukhune United and Esperance had reached an agreement for the transfer of the 24-year-old winger in a deal just north of R7 million.

This publication had also reported on interest from Kaizer Chiefs, who went as far as making a concrete offer for the winger. Mokwana has spent the week with Tunisia and has been welcomed warmly, by his own admission.
Speaking to Esperance TV a week into his arrival after his arrival, Mokwana explained why he opted for a move up North as opposed to staying in the PSL.
"There were some teams that wanted me like Sundowns, Chiefs but for myself, I wanted to move away from home to get some more exposure," the winger said via his new club's media department.
"I mean we all know in Africa that Esperance is one of the biggest teams in the world. So I wanted to come here and experience it and give it my all.
"I'm a winner, I'm a player that likes to play on the line, take on the defenders, create some opportunities for my teammates and score some goals for myself."

Mokwana's move makes him the first South African to play for Esperance in the club's 105 year old history.
"Everyone here, from the airport to the hotel, when I got to meet the players, it's been a wonderful experience. Even the fans; they've got such a great fanbase which I really look forward to play for at the stadium," added Mokwana.
"I feel really great. It's like a dream come true because I've always dreamed of playing in the Champions League and Club World Cup.
"So me coming here, is like a dream come true," he added.
