‘He can fit in perfectly in the Pirates system’

In this week's edition of Supporters Forum, KickOff speaks to Orlando Pirates supporter Oupa Mofokeng about his long-standing affair with the Soweto giants.

Mofokeng says he expects the league title from his favorite club this season since Pirates coach Jose Riveiro is in the last year of his three-year-deal.

Name of supporter

"My name is Oupa Mofokeng, I'm based in Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal but I'm originally from the Free State. It's work that brought me to KZN.

"I'm employed by the SAPS, I'm a detective, I investigate cases."

Club supported?

"I'd be lying. I have never supported any other club. I have been supporting Pirates since my childhood stage.

"I used to love the Pirates legend Albert 'Bashin' Mahlangu, him and Basil Steenkamp. And another thing is, growing up I was the biggest fan of Jomo Sono. And because of my big body, other kids used to call me Jomo."

Are you happy with the bosses?

"I'm happy with the bosses, the way they are doing their job as supporters we are happy."

Are you happy with the coach?

"I'm happy with the coach. Based on his record in his first two seasons in South Africa. This is his last season in the contract he signed.

"In his first season, he won two trophies, in second season another two trophies, and on the log, he finished in a reasonable position. So I don't think there's anyone who can fault him.

"Being a new person he has done a good job."

Are you happy with the players?

"I am happy with the players, especially with the new signing Gilberto. Judging by the pre-season you can tell the man is coming alright. He is banging in goals."

Who do you want them to sign?

"Gaston Sirino. He is a very good player who can fit in perfectly in the Pirates system."

Your message to the team?

"Firstly I would like to say my condolences to the family of Mr. Stanley "Screamer" Tshabalala, and the family of Orlando Pirates at large.

"And then to the team I would like to say, guys what you went to Spain for you must convert it to your PSL performance.

"As the club's supporters this season we want nothing less than the league, nomakanjani the league must be for us. That's my biggest wish this season."
