With Orlando Pirates understood to be in the market for a wing back, the man who knows the club inside out, Augusto "Njenje" Palacios, has explained why he believes Thabiso Monyane is yet to hit top form.
Pirates returned to Rand Stadium last week to launch their pre-season plans, with a trip to Spain undertaken yet again this July.
For players like Tshegofatso Mabasa, the intention will be to continue where they left off with the impressive form that has made him almost hard to drop from the starting XI.
For others, like Zakhele Lepasa and Thabiso Monyane, the mission will be to reclaim their spots in the starting line-up after falling down the pecking order.

Although the Soweto giants are reported to have set their sights on Stellenbosch FC captain and right-back Deano van Rooyen, Palacios has urged the club to trust its academy talent Monyane.
At 24, the speedy wingback should be a starter. However, he has struggled to nail down a spot due partly to injuries and growing competition in in his position.
With Paseka Mako, Bandile Shandu and Monyane all out of action to injuries, Riveiro at one stage turned to Fortune Makaringe in the search for a make-shift right back.
In January, that search located Thabiso Lebitso, who had left Chippa United, but like Makaringe, had played mostly as a winger. The gamble paid off and Lebitso became a key play.
However, his rise raises further questions of Monyane's and Shandu's places in the team.

Palacios, who worked with Monyane at youth level, believes the best is yet to come from the Bafana Bafana international.
"He is another player who is yet to reach his full potential," Palacios says, speaking to KickOff.
"I can't speak for the club, these are my personal views, but I think he is a really special player who just needs to find a rhythm.
"I don't think at the moment he has been anywhere near the form he can hit. I hope he can stay injury-free and be consistent, then this season can be the one for him to make his mark."
Monyane and Lebitso form part of the team that travelled to Spain, while Shandu continues his rehabilitation.
When the season commences in August, Monyane will be aiming to add to his 15 starts and perhaps establish himself as the number-one wingback
