Nabi to miss Chiefs' Turkey pre-season tour?

Nasreddine Nabi's arrival at Kaizer Chiefs could take longer than anticipated, despite predictions to the contrary, and even affect preparations for a reported pre-season tour in Turkey.

Nabi, who is still contracted to FAR Rabat, guided the military outfit to the final of the Throne Cup, which meant he had to stay a little longer in Morocco before joining Chiefs.

The 58-year-old was quoted by Moroccan media as saying the semi-final win over MAS de Fes was not his last game before he leaves, and confirmed he will be in charge of the final, which he expects to take place on 30 June.

However, KickOff, through sources at Raja Casablanca, who set up a final against FAR after edging MC Oujda 4-3 in extra-time on Tuesday evening, have been led to believe there's uncertainty regarding the exact date of the final.

According to Moroccan journalist Amin El Amri, the date of the Moroccan Throne Cup final is determined by state protocols, which makes it hard to predict.

"It's kind of normal [final date unknown] because the Throne Cup, it's always the Royal family or Chief of government [who determines the dates], so it really depends on the protocol coming from higher [authority] in the state," Amri said on Radio 2000's Game On.

"It really does not depend on the Moroccan federation or the professional league. So. the protocol makes it hard to predict, to have a range of dates.

"But in my experience and my opinion, I think they are gonna play it in the next two weeks, half [way of] July, because the players need to take a rest and also clubs need to prepare for the next season.

Chiefs are reportedly due to start their pre-season preparations in Turkey from July 4 and if Nabi stays in Rabat until mid-July, they would have been close to wrapping up their tour, expected to last 18 days.
