The term 'Breaking News' is synonymous with Kaizer Chiefs' official social media pages this time of year as several player contracts reach expiry and important announcements have to be made in preparation for the season that's to follow.
Amakhosi have been quiet on transfers, in or out, since the 2023/24 campaign ended, with their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates as well as Cape Town City appearing to be the busier of the PSL sides in the transfer market so far.

That seems set to change, with the clock running down to the end of June and only seven days remaining before that time comes.
Decisions simply have to be made, and announced to the anxious Khosi Nation. The Soweto giants have the period 24-30 June to do so.
Of particular interest is the Itumeleng Khune situation, what with the two parties seemingly not singing from the same hymn sheet regarding the veteran goalkeeper's playing future. As it stands, his Chiefs career is over as a player, and with Khune having stated his desire to play on until the age of 40, it appears he will need to look for a new home to realise that dream.
Should no team come calling for his services, could the Ventersdorp-born man be 'forced' into retirement?
Another elephant in the room is the matter of Keagan Dolly.
High salary, low return on the pitch.
He, too, is expected out the door, unless he accepts a pay cut. Whether he goes the Khama Billiat route, who left the negotiation table as soon as the words 'pay cut' were mentioned, or stays the course at the club he supported as a kid, is the big mystery at this stage.
There are also several players who have been on the fringes and could be let go or put on the transfer list, such as Njabulo Ngcobo and Happy Mashiane, to mention but two.
It is also not known what decision the hierarchy will come to regarding the likes of Edmilson Dove, on whose deal Amakhosi have an option to extend for a further year, Sifiso Hlanti and Zitha Kwinika.
To say the latter duo have largely not risen to the occasion when handed the jersey would be an understatement.
It must be mentioned, though, that the Soweto giants are in a tricky situation, being pressed for time to make these announcements in the midst of a coaching appointment.

The new man in charge, believed to be Nasreddine Nabi, has his side AS FAR playing a Moroccan Throne Cup semi-final on Sunday evening, and whether his current employers will release him should they proceed to the final will be a key development.
Either way, keep an eye out for 'Breaking News' this week.
