PSL to bring down the hammer on Swallows?

Moroka Swallows have been officially charged after they failed to honour two of their last DStv Premiership fixtures of 2023.

The Dube Birds caused a stir when the players refused to pitch up for games against Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows amid an ongoing battle between players and coaching staff.

The clashes were scheduled to take place on the 27th December and 30th December.

Following the December drama, Swallows are set to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee on 11 January at the PSL headquarters.

PSL Prosecutor Zola Majavu has confirmed that Steve Komphela's side has been charged for misconduct.

"I can confirm that yesterday Moroka Swallows was charged for misconduct and bringing the league into disrepute a to their failure to honour fixtures that were scheduled for the 27th and 30th of December 2023 respectively," Majavu revealed.

"They will appear before the PSL DC on the 11th of January 2024 at 11:00 at the offices of the league.

"Once that matter is finalised, only then will I give further update on the outcome of the DC proceedings. Until then, there will be no further commentary on this matter as per usual."
