After Jonny Evans rejoined the club this season, another former Manchester United star could now reportedly be set for a shock return to Old Trafford just months after his exit.
After the surprise re-signings of stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Evans in the past few years, the Red Devils are now said to be considering bringing former goalkeeper David de Gea back to the club.

According to The Sun, Andre Onana's reported decision to represent Cameroon at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations has sparked the club's desire to bring the ex-Atletico Madrid shot-stopper back in to the picture.
The 27-year-old retired from international football after an argument with national team head coach Rigobert Song during the 2022 FIFA World Cup but then return to the fold for the team's final AFCON qualifiers, and is now expected to be named in the side that goes to the continental tournament.
As for De Gea, having left United at the end of last season after a contract renewal had been taken off the table, he remains a free agent.
With Onana seemingly set to be in the Ivory Coast for the next AFCON, which runs from 13 January to 11 February, the Spaniard is believed to viewed by the Manchester side as an ideal short-term solution in this period.
United have at their disposal two back-up keepers to the Cameroon international: Altay Bayindir, who was bought from Fenerbahce for £4.3 million (R99 million) in the latest transfer window but is yet to play for the Red Devils, and veteran Tom Heaton, 37.
The club is, however, reportedly still worried about being short of keepers during that period.
Earlier this season, some United players were said to have been outraged by the Mancunians' treatment of De Gea, feeling that he had not been given a proper send-off after being at the club for 12 years.
