Shalulile unfazed by Pirates defence

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile is confident the Brazilians can unlock the Orlando Pirates defence ahead of a blockbuster MTN8 semi-final clash on Saturday.

Defending Champions Mamelodi Sundowns are putting in the final preparations for the upcoming MTN8 semi-final clash against Orlando Pirates. Both sides have had impressive league campaigns so far this season and occupy first and second place on the log.

Firing the Brazilians to the top has been striker Peter Shalulile with a contribution of six goals – the highest in the league. 

Sundowns are also the highest-scoring team in the league with 15 goals and the Namibian striker is confident that the Brazilians will continue their scoring form when they lock horns with the Buccaneers.

"This season good season, a competitive season. All the teams are out to win the league, to survive and to be top 8," said Shalulile.

"Especially Pirates, this season they have picked up levels to the point where you can see that they have great players, to be honest."

Orlando Pirates boast one of the tightest defences in the premiership with just three goals conceded in their eight matches.

"Their backline, as you guys have said, it's difficult to score against them, but the mark of champions is they knock on the door until it opens," Shalulile added.

"It won't be an easy match, but in every match that we played [against] big teams in this league, we managed to create chances and come Saturday all you have to do is bury your chances.

"In every match, Sundowns will definitely create chances and it's for us now, the players upfront to make sure that we score goals," added Shalulile. 

Mamelodi Sundowns will lock horns against Orlando Pirates on Saturday at the Orlando Stadium in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-final. the sides will meet again on 22 October for the second leg tie.
