10-man Man City lose UCL winning record

FC Copenhagen 0-0 Manchester City

Ten-man Manchester City missed the chance to book their spot in the knockout stages after they were held to a goalless draw by Copenhagen in Group G at Parken Stadium.

The Citizens made five changes from their thumping win over Southampton, as Sergio Gomez, Aymeric Laporte, IIkay Gundogan, Jack Grealish and Julian Alvarez were given a run, while Erling Haaland was rested on the bench.

City thought they were ahead on 11 minutes after Rodri scored with a wonder strike but the goal was disallowed for a handball in the build-up.

Pep Guardiola's charges were belatedly awarded a penalty with 25 minutes on the clock by a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for a handball in the box by Nicolai Boilesen but Riyad Mahrez's spot-kick was saved by goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

There was further drama five minutes later as City were reduced to ten men following a VAR review after Gomez committed a foul as a last defender on the edge of the box.

The game was tightly contested in the second stanza, with City forced to absorb the pressure but they ended up settling for the share of the spoils.

City extended their lead at the top of the group to four points and could qualify for the knockout stages if Sevilla don't get maximum points against Borussia Dortmund later in the evening.

Maccabi Haifa 2-0 Juventus

Juventus' chances of reaching the knockout phase were dented after a 2-0 defeat against Maccabi Haifa in Group H at Sammy Ofer Stadium.

Bianconeri made four changes from their loss against AC Milan, as Angel Di Maria, who had a domestic ban, returned alongside Daniele Rugani, Leandro Paredes and Weston McKennie.

Maccabi had a perfect start after Omer Atzili gave them the lead on seven minutes with a flicked header in the box after a cross by Pierre Cornud.

Atzili doubled the lead for Barak Bakhar's charges shortly before the interval with a low strike at the near post from a counter-attack.

Juventus were fired up in the second stanza but Juan Cuadrado was twice denied by goalkeeper Josh Cohen, as Maccabi claimed their first win and points.
