UEFA Champions League match report Juventus v FC Barcelona

Goals from Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi gave FC Barcelona a 2-0 win over Juventus in the UEFA Champions League Group G on Wednesday evening.

Still without Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus recalled Rodrigo Bentancur and Federico Chiesa with Sergi Roberto, Miralem Pjanic, Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann back in for Barca.

Pjanic came close to haunting his former club with a shot from the edge of the box, which Wojciech Szczesny spurned only for Griezmann to crack the post on the rebound.

Juventus succumbed to the pressure on 14 minutes after Dembele charged at the opposing defence before cutting inside to fire in off a deflection from Chiesa.

The Serie A giants hit back immediately through an instinctive rebounded finish from Alvaro Morata, but it was chalked off after the Spaniard was caught handling in the build-up.

Morata was denied for the second time right on the half-hour mark following a precise finish off a cross from Juan Cuadrado, as the strike was ruled out for offside.

Ronald Koeman's hand was forced at halftime after Ronaldo Araujo was unable to carry on and had his spot taken by Sergio Busquets.

Morata was denied a goal for the third time 57 minutes in after he turned in Cuadrado's cross only for the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to rule out the finish following an offside.

Juventus still pushed bodies forward for the equaliser, as the match headed towards the midway stage and had Adrien Rabiot going wide from a penetrative pass by Morata.

The Old Lady were reduced to ten players in the final five minutes, with Merih Demiral sent for an early shower following a dangerous lunge on Pjanic.

Barcelona made the points safe stoppage time when Lionel Messi netted from penalty spot after Federico Bernardeschi brought down Ansu Fati, as it finished 2-0 in Turin.
