Juventus' Max Allegri says his side weren't favorites for Tottenham UEFA Champions League clash

After racing to a two-goal lead with Gonzalo Higuain netting a quick-fire brace, the Bianconeri succumbed to a disappointing draw, as Tottenham rallied back to earn two vital away goals, heading into the second-leg at Wembley next month.

But Allegri feels some of the criticism directed at his side has been unwarranted as the outcome of the fixture could have been different, despite only having 33% ball possession at their own home ground.

"Football is strange, you can go from a possible 3-0 to 2-1, a possible 3-1 to 2-2. I think we all knew how complicated this would be," Allegri said in the post-match press conference, as quoted via Football Italia. "Now it'll be like a Final in London.

"If someone thought Juve could win this 4-0, then they were way off track. Perhaps reaching two Finals in three years was damaging to some people.

"We were never the favourites to reach the quarter-final. It was always 50-50 with Tottenham and it still is."
