Serie A match report Genoa v Juventus

Alvaro Morata was named on the bench on the side of Juventus, who preferred Paulo Dybala alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in a front-two pairing.

Juventus did have the ball in the back of the net in the first seconds through a galloping header at the back-post from Adrien Rabiot, but it was disallowed following a foul on goalkeeper Mattia Perin.

Weston McKennie looked to follow up his midweek exploits against FC Barcelona with a second goal in two games in the opening quarter, but Perin pulled across to palm his header for a corner-kick.

The Rossoblu showed little going forward and duly fell behind 12 minutes in the second half when Dybala cut into the area from out wide to send a low shot past Perin.

Juve's lead was short-lived as Stefano Sturaro sneaked in behind Alex Sandro at the back-post to side-foot a diagonal cross from Luca Pellegrini into the far corner.

Andrea Pirlo's men looked to have gone back in front when Dybala latched onto a cutback in the area on 65 minutes to slot home from close-range, but it was disallowed for offside.

Pirlo switched focus to the substitutes' bench inside a minute and threw caution to the wind with Morata introduced for Rabiot, before Perin kept out Ronaldo's looping header moments later.

Ronaldo made amends inside the last ten minutes after firing in a spot-kick to restore his side's lead after Juan Cuadrado went gone down in the area.

Juventus were given another penalty two minutes from time following a foul on Morata by Perin, allowing Ronaldo to blast the roof of the net and revive his side's title aspirations.
