Man Utd star: We can't keep doing this

After their UEFA Champions League exit and a run of poor results domestically, a Manchester United star has admitted that they "can't keep doing this".

The Red Devils have been on an inconsistent run of form, beating Chelsea by two goals to one before suffering a shock 3-0 defeat to Brentford and then finishing bottom of their UCL group after a 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich sent them crashing out of Europe last week.

United currently occupy seventh place on the Premier League table after picking up just seven points in their previous five games, with one of them coming at Anfield after they held Liverpool to a goalless draw on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag's men went into that game with the odds weighing heavily against them, but while Liverpool dominated possession and recorded 34 goal attempts over the course of 90 minutes, with eight of them being on target, the Reds were unable to penetrate the resilient United defence.

Left-back Luke Shaw, who was part of the back four who were able to halt the Merseysiders' front-line, has since stated that his side needs to be more consistent in the way they perform.

"That has to be the foundation now. Every game, whether it is at Anfield away or [at Old Trafford], it always has to be the same and I think that is where we have been lacking, I think, is the consistency," the 28-year-old told Betfred

"I think one game we are excellent, for example, the game against Chelsea here we played a really good game, then we go and let ourselves down by playing Bournemouth here and losing 3-0.

"It's not acceptable, we can't accept that and it's something that needs to be addressed and changed very quickly because we can't keep doing this."

After the encounter, Ten Hag lauded his team for the result, admitting that he was "proud" of them.

"If we bring this in every game, then first of all we are a hard team to beat and then from that point we can go on and win games – and also big games," the Dutch tactician told the club's official website.

Ten Hag and his men are now preparing for a weekend trip to the London Stadium, where they will face West Ham United – who are led by former United manager David Moyes  before hosting a dangerous Aston Villa side who are currently third on the EPL table.
