Man Utd set to be frustrated in 'incredible' African star chase?

Manchester United are reportedly set to be frustrated in their chase for an African star who has been labelled an "incredible" player.

The Red Devils are exploring the possibility of signing Wolverhampton Wanderers wing-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, but the Molineux outfit are expected increase their fee demand for the player after recent developments, according to GiveMeSport

It is believed the 20-time Premier League champions are on the hunt for a left-back who could provide competition for Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, with the former having missed the entire 2023/24 campaign through injury.

The Englishman, meanwhile, missed 34 games after sustaining muscle injuries on two separate occasions in the same campaign.

Ait-Nouri, who has previously been described as an "incredible talent" by manager Gary O'Neil, has two years left on his £33 000-per-week (about R779 000) contract with his current side.

As such, Wolves see him as a key part of their plans for the future, with it being claimed they are under no pressure to sell the Algeria international.

This comes after the Wolves sold Max Kilman to West Ham United for a reported £40 million (R944 million), a fee that will help the side reinvest in their squad.

As a result, it is claimed the club will increase the price tag on Ait-Nouri which is believed to be a huge blow for the Manchester giants, whose manager Erik ten Hag is "eager" to bolster the left-back region with a fresh signing.

The Red Devils have begun the process of improving on their current squad by recently completing the signing of Dutchman Joshua Zirkzee from Serie A side Bologna.

Ait-Nouri, meanwhile, impressed many over the course of the 23/24 season, making 38 appearances across all competitions and amassing a total of over 2 600 minutes of playing time.
