Ten Hag mum on shock Greenwood news

In his latest presser, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was asked about the news that the charges of attempted rape and sexual assault against striker Mason Greenwood have been dropped. Here's what he said.

The Greater Manchester Police announced on Thursday that all charges against Greenwood had been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service little over a year since the player was arrested and charged over the allegations, news that sent shockwaves through the football fraternity.

United later issued a statement on the latest regarding the player, revealing that they will conduct an internal investigation into the matter and that the forward remained barred from returning to training at Carrington.

The 21-year-old himself released a statement of his own, saying he was relieved that this decision had been reached in the case.

Speaking in a press conference on Friday afternoon ahead of his side's Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday, Red Devils boss Ten Hag remained mum on what has unfolded over the past 24 hours regarding the Greenwood saga when asked.

"No. Nothing. I can't add nothing, I refer to the statement of the club," the 53-year-old answered after being asked to comment on the matter, per the Daily Mail.

Asked if he had spoken to the centre-forward, the Dutchman added: "As I said, in this moment, I can't give comment about the process.

"I can't say anything about it, I refer to the statement of the club and at this moment I can't add anything."

Asked if the news had affected any preparations for their match against Palace, he replied: "We have always to focus on the game, no matter what, it is our job.

"That is why we are here, we have a lot to do against them, two weeks ago, it was a bad performance there and I wasn't happy with the performance from us. It was 90% focus and energy and we dropped two points.

"Tomorrow we need a better game, a better focus in the game. Better conduct in the way of play because we have to beat them, that's quite clear."
