Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has claimed that Neymar's comments about potentially retiring were a cry for help.
The Brazilian has had a difficult 2021/22 campaign which included a slow start and a number of injury issues that forced him to miss 22 matches in all competitions so far.
In October 2021, Neymar opened up about the pressure he is constantly under and hinted that the upcoming World Cup could be his last.
"I think it's my last World Cup [in 2022]," he said.
"I see it as my last because I don't know if I have the strength of mind to deal with football anymore."

However, Henry believes this statement was a plea for help and is concerned that the South American's mental state is not being considered in the bigger picture.
"When you analyse an action and he doesn't position himself properly then fine, that's a fact and you have to recognise that," he told L'Equipe, per Marca.
"Yes, he hasn't been as good [recently], but there are reasons.
"Neymar has often talked in his recent interviews about his well-being, about the pressure, so my first thought is: 'Is he alright?'.

"It's not about him not doing nutmegs, sombreros, or about the fact that he doesn't beat people with his pace anymore.
"He talks, but can you hear him?
"He's asking for help - there are things going on in his head, like any human being."
