Ligue 1 match report Paris Saint-Germain v Lens 23 April 2022

The irrepressible front trio of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Junior that's left many a Ligue 1 defender in their wake this term set out the Parisans stall.

PSG could've put their noses in front during the midway period of the first half after a teasing ball from Marquinhos in the area saw Mbappe take it in his stride and missed target entirely.

There was no letting up from the Parisans as the half-hour mark beckoned and almost unlocked Lens from a ball over the top by Idrissa Gueye to Achraf Hakimi, but Jean-Louis Leca saved.

Leca was called into action within the matter of minutes when he was forced to get a hand onto a teasing effort from Messi following a ball by Marco Verratti.

The visitors became confidence five minutes before halftime after neat inter-play around the area brought a decent opening for Jonathan Clauss, but Keylor Navas parried.

PSG threatened the breakthrough eight minutes into the second half after Mbappe brought a save of Leca from a quick free-kick by Verratti with the follow-up cleared off the line by Christopher Wooh.

Lens path to victory became harder 12 minutes in the second half as Kevin Danso received his marching orders for a reckless challenge on Neymar.

As such, the Parisans went ahead inside the final 20 minutes when Messi curled a pass into space by Neymar into the top corner well beyond the reach of Leca.

Thereafter, PSG battled to contain the visitors who levelled in the last two minutes when Corentin Jean attacked a low cross from Deiver Machado and tapped into an empty net.

PSG had a clear chance in the dying seconds to win it from a knockdown by Neymar to Mbappe, who went and dragged supply widel as it finished all square with the host confirmed as champions.
