Xavi Hernandez puts 5 FC Barcelona stars up for sale

Manager Xavi Hernandez has reportedly drawn up a list of five FC Barcelona stars he wants sold in this transfer window.

The Catalan giants have made a number of signings already, with Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha joining for a combined fee of €103 million (R1.7 billion) to follow the earlier arrivals of Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen on free transfers.

A number of players will be expected to lose their spots in the first team due to the quartet of incomings.

With Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay being pursued by a number of clubs, it is claimed Xavi has added five more stars to his list of players who are surplus to requirements.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, centre-back duo Samuel Umtiti and Oscar Mingueza have been transfer-listed by the Spaniard.

The former made only one appearance in the 2021/22 season, and it is likely that Christensen's arrival will not make the Frenchman's situation any easier, while Mingueza featured a lot more but was pushed out wide to play at right-back.

Another star who has struggled to impress Xavi, striker Martin Braithwaite, is also said to have been placed on the reported transfer list. The Denmark international made just four appearances for Barca last season and Lewandowski's arrival will only compound his lack of game time.

It is understood that midfielder Riqui Puig and goalkeeper Neto have also been told they are not in the Spanish manager's plans for the 2022/23 campaign.
